About Me

Dedra developed a passion for financial literacy after taking an elective course on financial planning while attending the University of Texas. She fell in love with the Wall Street Journal and Louis Rukeyser and spent the next several years reading everything she could get her hands on to further her financial education. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film; Dedra was involved with a non-profit film organization, Reel Women, as a volunteer coordinator. She also played a key role in producing several short films including one that she wrote called “Deal of Fortune.” Concurrently, Dedra began her career in the financial services industry in 2000 with Charles Schwab. She moved to Houston in 2006 to work for a Houston-based financial services firm.  She transitioned from being an assistant to a financial advisor and spent the last 2 years with Wealth Development Strategies, L.P. She recently established Roadmap to Change and works as a money mentor coach. Dedra also volunteers with The Women’s Resource of Greater Houston and Clarity Center for A New Way.

Dedra is a native Texan with roots in South Texas. She is passionate about helping women understand their money story.  As a single woman, whom is also a business owner; she understands firsthand the importance of financial planning. In her free time, Dedra enjoys writing, working with kiln-formed glass, and singing with the Joyful Singers. She also enjoys hanging out with her beloved cat Bevo Kitty Longhorn III.
